Drive to the roof of Spain. This route starts in the historic city of Granada and climbs into the Sierra Nevada, reaching the Pradollano ski resort and continuing towards the Pico Veleta. It is the highest paved road in Europe. You'll move from subtropical gardens to alpine tundra in less than an hour. WARNING: Continuous, long steep climb. The air gets thin and your engine's cooling will be put to the test. The reward is a view that, on clear days, reaches across the Mediterranean to Africa.
