Timing is everything in Spain. The high passes are often snow-locked until late May, while the coastal routes shine brightest in the golden hours of early autumn. We recommend allowing at least 25% more time than GPS suggests—not because of traffic, but because you will want to stop for the view.

It provides access to the gateways of famous hikes (like the Cares Trail) and includes the legendary steep climb to the glacial Lakes of Covadonga. WARNING: The road to the lakes is very steep and restrictive; the main gorge roads are winding with vertical limestone walls. A world-class driving experience through raw, high-alpine landscape.
Experience the soul of Andalusia. This route winds through the Sierra de Grazalema, connecting cliffside towns like Grazalema, Zahara de la Sierra, and the iconic Ronda. You'll drive through olive groves and cork forests, with the blinding white houses of the villages contrasting against the sun-baked mountains. The roads are winding and hilly, offering some of the most romantic scenery in Spain. Perfect for slow, cultural exploration.
The 'Wild Coast' of Catalonia. This route follows the rugged GI-682 road, connecting Tossa de Mar with Sant Feliu de GuĂxols. It's a continuous chain of 365 curves (one for every day of the year!) carved into red granite cliffs. You'll have constant views of secret turquoise coves and pine forests. The road is very winding but stays at a moderate elevation. An absolute dream for cruising with the windows down and the scent of pine in the air.
High-alpine majesty in the heart of the Pyrenees. This route takes you through the stunning Val d'Aran and across the Bonaigua Pass (2,072m). You'll drive through lush green valleys, past Romanesque stone churches, and beneath massive snow-capped peaks. WARNING: A long, serious climb with many hairpins. Your van's power and brakes will be tested in this spectacular border region between Spain and France. Pure mountain magic.
The most legendary road in the Balearic Islands. Carved by Italian engineer Antonio Parietti in 1932, this road descends 800m in just 12km through a series of wild hairpins, including the famous 270-degree 'Nudo de Corbata' (Tie Knot). It leads to a hidden beach between massive cliffs. WARNING: Extremely steep and narrow with heavy coach traffic in mid-day. An absolute bucket-list drive for those with strong brakes and a love for engineering marvels.
Drive to the roof of Spain. This route starts in the historic city of Granada and climbs into the Sierra Nevada, reaching the Pradollano ski resort and continuing towards the Pico Veleta. It is the highest paved road in Europe. You'll move from subtropical gardens to alpine tundra in less than an hour. WARNING: Continuous, long steep climb. The air gets thin and your engine's cooling will be put to the test. The reward is a view that, on clear days, reaches across the Mediterranean to Africa.
